Cities Visited: The small alpine village of Oberammergau is world famous for the Passion Play performed by its villagers every ten years. The next season of performances will be in the year 2010, when more than 1,500 richly-costumed Oberammergau villagers will take part in the Passion Play, fulfilling a solemn promise made by their forefathers in 1633. Many tens of thousands of visitors of all nationalities and denominations will travel to Oberammergau to witness this dramatic event. |

offer five categories of hotel accommodation.
These range from the adequate HC5 category, right up to HC1, which are the best hotels available.

In addition, HC1 hotels automatically include Category 1A seating for the Passion Play - the best seats in the house! See the seating plan above. HC1 hotels are described by the organisers as;
luxuriously furnished, spacious rooms of the
highest standard, with shower or bath/WC and a corner seating unit. They are equipped with a safe, minibar (or a range of drinks), colour TV, radio, direct dial telephone, internet access, hair-dryer,
cosmetic articles and bathrobe.
European Essentials Tours: The Oberammergau organisers offer a further four categories of Guesthouses and Inns, ranging from the modestly furnished GC4 rooms up to the best Inns and Guesthouses on offer - GC1 category.
All Insight European Essentials Tours attending Oberammergau will stay in the best GC1 Inns and Guesthouses. These packages include Category 2 seats for the Passion Play. See the seating plan above.
GC1 Inns and Guesthouses are described by the organisers as large, comfortable rooms (some of them apartments), for discerning guests with shower or bath/WC and a corner seating unit. They are equipped with a minibar (or a range of drinks), colour TV, radio, direct dial telephone, internet
access, hair-dryer and cosmetic articles.
We encourage all persons interested in group tours to contact us as soon as possible to register for our Priority Interest List. Space will be confirmed and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. All of our packages will include 2 nights stay in the Oberammergau area. We will also have a limited number of 1 night packages available for customized itineraries only. Preliminary rates for those packages will be available in early 2008.
Pre-Registration:
1. Performances run May through October, from approx. 2:30 pm - 10:30 pm with a dinner break. Seats are limited and sell out very quickly.
2. Oberammergau organizers have not yet detailed play arrangements/accommodation but have outlined the tours most likely to include the Passion Play option. Individual Travellers:
a. No money is required at this stage
b. Full deposit and payment details will be advised as soon as arrangements are finalized. At that stage you may choose to continue with your reservations, make changes or cancel without penalty.
c. If Insight is unable to provide seats for the dates of your choice or itineraries change once Passion Play details are released, Insight will provide alternate dates/routes where possible.
d. Early payment discounts do not apply.
